Dear Me -- Lines to The Person I Long to be
So here at halftime — who do you want to be, and what do you want to achieve?
What do you say to the person you want to be, after four decades of living as the person you have always been?
After weeks of impossible shebangs --- who do you still say you are and hope you still can be?
Because, who, would want to merely coast through life, when they can conquer it?
Ask yourself this daily, examine yourself deeply. You may just awaken your deepest passion and unleash your greatest potential.
Wherever and however you find yourself today, decide: don’t remain a victim when you can be a victor.
So do this:
Trust — in everything trust Him.
Trust Him when your world turns dark, when you face a string of loss, when you’ve got to work your way out of dead-ends, detours, and derailments.
Trust Him when life hasn’t turned out the way you thought it would be, or when you are not who you thought you’re supposed to be.
Live faith even when the world hollers in fear.
Is there really another way to live?
So go and feel it all. Laugh with those who laugh, cry with those who cry. Learn from those who’ve tasted defeat. lived losses and endured betrayals, and still find light in the midst of their dark, they’ll help keep you grounded, soft and yet strong.
Persevere in your hard. Satisfaction comes from the smallest of things. So choose everyday beauty.
Gaze at beauty and you’ll be beautiful.
Stand in the sun, breathe in the breeze, smell the rain, kiss the flowers.
Stroke the pup to sleep, sip your coffee slow, watch Top Gun squeezing hard the hand of the man you love who laughs out too loud.
This is your everyday Sabbath; savouring your life is the way you’re saving your soul.
At your halftime, think hard:
Do you want to spend your finite time chasing after the goods, or being chased by His goodness?
When the hard of life happens, trust your way through the night with thanks.
Who by worrying can add a single iota of time to life?
Surrender to loving others over keeping a safe distance.
Don’t be afraid of being vulnerable. Love means you’re exposed to being hurt. Love anyway. Don’t expect, but always, give grace. Stop the flow of negative thoughts, train your mind to think of the finest in others, and listen, then embrace. You can do this.
Practice smiling. A smile brings closer the heart’s distance, bears under the disappointment of day and bridges the differences of opinions. Smile to yourself, smile at your life, smile into the slowness of things; they too can grow your soul.
Remember, there’s always time to:
Relive old jokes, crank up some jazz, and talk to people from all walks of life.
Remain amazed, sit in the awe of your everyday, and you’ll remain inspired all your day.
Everyday, come home the Word.
Take it extra hot with your steaming coffee. Let it stir you and read you. Plead the truth to penetrate, to purge, to purify you. Ask for revelation to see how what you’ve read can be a semblance into how you live.
Grow with God everyday and you’ll have something to live for each new day.
On days when the walls seem to cave you in, and the doors aren’t letting you through, and on, remember: live carried.
Live carried in the arms of One who will never drop you.
Every day is this brand new hope and the beginning of your forever new life.
Here you can be a student all over again:
Stop shortchanging the gift of who you are because of the worry of who you aren’t.
Believe this okay? Your future will be greater than your past.
He speaks and the winds were still, so let Him speak, and heal your heart with hope, and form your future with His promises.
Today and for the rest of your days, don’t live for what’s glamourous. Look for the glorious.
You want to do a job? Do it right. Find your broom, wear your servant’s towel large.
Don’t let mediocrity makes you average. The place of service is always the place to exalt your King. This is how you make an impact, not just an impression.
More than anything, want His intimacy more than what shines and sparkles.
Never forget the real definition of hope.
Christ didn’t come to give you solutions out of the hard but to give you hope in all the hard.
So every day write your story. A little here, a little there. Then find your complete story in His story. Find all you need in Him, let Him be your all – filling you, singing over you, and making His great ending yours as well.
And finally, believe that grace melts away hardness.
Yes, you can still believe that grace changes everything and redeems all thing.
And He can change and redeem you, even here at half-time.
